[Chāt Dog]: an all-beef 🌭 & chaat get busy in a ghee-toasted bun. A Desi-American mashup of @pervaizistan’s Chicago childhood & 🇵🇰 heritage.
What is Chaat?
Chāt — “to lick” or “to taste”
Chaat is a savory snack that is ubiquitous on the streets and menus across Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
Chaat Dog: A hot dog on a toasted bun, topped with chaat and finished with cilantro chutney, tamarind-cherry chutney, fried onions, a sev & boondi crunch, fresh cilantro & pickled fresno peppers that we make in-house.
It’s a mashup of my Chicago-area upbringing (we ate a lot of hot dogs growing up) and my Pakistani heritage — chaat, the savory snack that is ubiquitous on the streets and menus across Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.

“Tucked into a toasted bun, this fusion hot dog somehow tastes like the very experience of wandering New York’s streets: inventive and joyfully diverse. It’s proof that in New York City, you can always teach an old dog new tricks.”
“At the end of the day, Shallwani is a storyteller first and foremost. Chaat Dog is simply his latest medium. One hot dog at a time, he is inviting people to rethink one of America’s most familiar foods—and expand their understanding of who gets to shape the country’s culinary identity.”
Let’s Chaat.
